Microsoft Office XP, also known in beta as Office 10, is a Microsoft Office suite distributed by Microsoft for Microsoft Windows platform. This suite is the successor to Microsoft Office 2000, and also the predecessor to Office 2003. It can also be identified with the code name “Office 10″ or the name of its code name. It was released on March 5, 2001 in the USA, while in Europe it first appeared in markets on August 4, 2001. The ‘Mainstream” support phase for Office XP was completed on July 11, 2006. This is the date Windows 98 and Me stopped being supported. Extended support ended on 12/7/2011. Office XP tools received the title of 2002, even though they had the suffix “XP”. Word 2002 was instead called Word XP.
The end of clippy
Microsoft Office XP was a major component of its advertising campaign. Microsoft knew Clippy, and other Office Assistants, were unpopular and unused by users. These features were not entirely removed in the 2007 version.
Office XP and Windows XP
Microsoft Office XP came out the same year Windows XP. Despite these similarities, Office XP works with Windows XP. However, it is also compatible with Windows NT 4.0. Windows 98 SE and Windows 2000. Windows Me will not be compatible until the latest suite. Although it maintains some compatibility with Windows Vista, it is not compatible with Windows 7. It does not work with Windows 95. The last compatible suite for Windows 95 was Office 2000.

Office XP can be used on Windows 98SE, 98SE and Me.
RAM (RAM)
- Windows XP: Requires 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM for the operating system, plus an additional 8MB of RAM for each Office program (e.g., Word) running simultaneously
- Windows 2000 Professional – Requires 64MB RAM for the operating systems and an additional 8MB RAM each Office program (e.g. Word), that are running simultaneously
- Windows Me 4.0 and Windows NT 4.0: Windows Me requires 32MB of RAM, plus an additional 8MB for each Office program (e.g. Word), that is running simultaneously
- Windows 98 or 98SE: Requires 24MB of RAM for the operating system, plus an additional 8MB of RAM for each Office program (e.g., Word) running simultaneously
Hard disk space
There are different requirements for hard disk space depending on configuration. Your installation choice will determine the amount of space you need. Listed below are the minimum hard disk requirements for Office XP suites:
- Office XP Standard 210MB Hard Disk Space
- Office XP Professional and Professional special Edition: 245MB hard drive space available
- An additional 115MB space is required on your hard disk to install the operating software. System Files update will require an additional 50MB for users who don’t have Windows XP/Windows 2000/Windows Me/Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1).
Office XP Professional needs a Super VGA (800×600), or higher resolution monitor with 256 color support.
